Veteran German striker Mario Gomez announced his retirement from international football. The 33-year-old, who made his debut for Germany in 2007, scored 31 goals in 78 international appearances.

Gurugram India’s most polluted city
Gurugram, which has been NCR’s most polluted for the past three days, was declared the most polluted among 62 cities in the country surveyed by the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), with air quality index (AQI) crossing the 300 mark.

president
Ivan Duque was sworn in as the newly elected President of Colombia. He pledged to unite the country and improve economic growth. He pledged changes to tackle corruption and invigorate the economy and vowed to change the peace deal with the FARC rebel group.
Kannada writer Sumatheendra Nadig passed
away
Well-known Kannada poet and critic Sumatheendra R. Nadig passed away in Bengaluru. He was an important name in the modernist literary movement in Karnataka in the 60s and 70s.
